Tuesday Embodied Meditation

Embodied Meditation

Tuesdays 6:45 PM – begins July 3

Cost:  $15 drop in only

Location:  Bright Star World Dance, Portland,Maine

One hour a week just for you and your body.

We live in a stressful world where our thoughts are often focused on past mistakes and worries about the future.  We live in our heads and taking time for ourselves is generally an afterthought.  Embodied Meditation is an hour, a once a week that takes you out of your thoughts and into the now of your body.

Guided by Joie Grandbois, each class begins with a meditative body check in followed by a moving meditation focused on creating connection, compassion, and love for yourself and your body.  The class closes with a gentle affirmation to help you bring this sense of embodiment back into the world and through the rest of your week.

There will be time in class for journaling your experience.  Moving meditation is accompanied by live music.
Classes are open to adults (18+) of all genders.

NOTE:  Studio is on the third floor in a building without an elevator.

Sacred Vessel: An introduction to embodiment practice (Postponed)

Sacred Vessel:
An introduction to embodiment practice

Location: Aim to be Well, 36 Main Street, Suite E, Kennebunk, Maine*

Cost: $45 advance purchase /$60 door

This workshop is limited to 16 participants. Advance registration is encouraged.

Our culture creates a sense of estrangement from the body. This separation from our physical selves, our bodies, is directly related to our cultural separation from the natural world and our communities and has resulted in a cultural trauma of disconnection and isolation. The first step in healing that trauma, is to come home to ourselves.

Sacred Vessel is an introduction to sacred, embodied, movement that will help each of us begin to rebuild our connection to our bodies and our hearts. Through moving meditation, contemplative movement, and physical mindfulness we can learn to come home to our Sacred Vessel, our body.

In coming home to our bodies, we home to ourselves, to nature, our community, and our world.

The workshop exercises include meditation, guided and exploratory movement, as well a time for journaling and the sharing of experience in a safe and supportive environment.  Attendees will also be given techniques they can continue to use at home to further develop their own embodiment practice.
Many of the workshop exercises have live music accompaniment.

This workshop is open to adults (18+) of all genders.

The workshop is limited to 16 participants.
